the boyz club

If the flagrant grammatically ridiculous "z" doesn't make you cringe, then the subject of this email should. Ah yes. The glass ceiling. Favorite subject of women who burn their bras, shun makeup and sport practical Dr. Scholl's type footwear and earth toned skirts. Right? Well, not always. I happen to like brightly colored stilettos, but perhaps I just haven't entered into the bitter phase of feminism that many of my older sisters have.

The first and only likely candidate to make CEO in a major financial powerhouse on Wall Street was fired last week, amid applause from her male colleagues. Whether she deserved to be fired for the losses that the company had over the fallout in mortgages is debatable, but there is one fact that is indisputable: the boyz got their club back.

Finance has never been a female dominated industry. But then again, neither has business, or politics, or law, or film, or television, or cuisine. Especially when you look at high paying positions and positions of power. Sure, we all go to the same schools and we make better grades than the boys and we all start in the same crappy entry level drudgework. But who gets promoted? Who makes it to the top? Looks like it's not Zoe Cruz.
